What are the most important trends in your business to be? MT: Everything will be getting more expensive, from labor and materials to commodities. This means additional financial planning. An increase in the scrutiny placed on capital expenditures will help proper financial growth models become obtainable. What are the top priorities for your company in the coming months? MT: Continue making the transition from post Katrina boom to more normal business activities and income. Expand on current business models for the offshore construction sector as more and more of the Eastern Gulf of Mexico is opened for development and the impact the Alabama State Ports expansions will have on our cargo carrier markets. Briefly describe your outlook for the business in 2008 and beyond? MT: Business will continue to be good in the repair industry but not quite as good as the last couple of years. My hopes for the long term is that the present business atmosphere does not turn into a bust do to over construction. What markets do you see as being lucrative in the coming years? Which segments do you see on the decline? www.marinelink.com MT: I wish I could answer this question but unfortunately, I am not able. One thing I have learned with my tenure with such a historical company is this a very unpredictable industry. We have always been fluid and able to easily adapt to sudden changes. In the long term, I will continue to follow our operational, financial, & marketing models and hopes the research and data we are collecting along with our own intuitions will help keep us headed in the right direction.
