The World of the Ne It would be quite a distinction to say you operate the oldest vessel on New York Harbor, and the newest vessel as well. It's a distinction held for the moment by Poling and Cutler Marine Transportation LLC, whose 7,000-BBL tanker, the Coral Queen, has been a local icon since 1920. Early in April, Poling and Cutler sent their newest vessel to work, the 80,000-BBL Eva Leigh Cutler. The manned barge, suited to harbor and coastwise service, is the largest vessel in the lineage of the Poling name around the region. The Coral Queen may be the most venerable today, but even before she was built there were Polings moving product across these waters. With their largest maximum payload yet, Poling and Cutler see an expanding market before them. By Don Sutherland 26 MN May 2008
