people & companies Burger Yacht Sales Reports Brisk Activity Thanks to their expanding market and experience in both new construction and brokerage sales, Burger Yacht Sales reported brisk activity this past summer. Recent brokerage sales include Wimil, a 90-ft. Burger launched in 2002; Windscape, a 91-ft. Burger launched in 1994; Malahne, a 1937 177-ft. Camper & Nicholson; Lady Sarah, a 1998, 114-ft. Hatteras; and AB-7, a 1976, 105ft. Poole Chaffee. In addition, Burger has sold two of their 64-ft. Sparkman & Stephens designed hulls, the 1965 LA Maison Blanson, and the 1968 Victoria. Burger also announces new brokerage listings including the 70-ft. Hatteras Sportdeck, Carry On, an 85-ft. Broward Lady Monroe, and the 107-ft. Burger Silver Seas originally launched in 1998. Just listed is the 2004, 106ft. Burger Raised Pilot House Wow. Burger Yachts Sales Relocates Burger Boat Company relocated its Burger Yacht Sales to better serve both new build and brokerage clients. Burger Yacht Sales continues to reside within the Quay Center located on the corner of S.E. 17th Street and Quay. The move, to 1515 S.E. 17th Street, Suite A-129, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316, will take place the week of November 10, 2008. Burger Boat Company builds custom yachts, in aluminum and/or steel, up to 200-ft. (60m). Alion Awarded CG(X) Contract CG(X). The award, a delivery order under the NAVSEA SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) contract, has a potential value of $127.8m over five years. The base year value is approximately $18.6m. CG(X) will be a major surface combatant tailored for joint air and missile defense and joint air control operations providing airspace dominance and protection to Joint forces operating in the Seabase. CG(X) will replace the U.S.S. Ticonderoga, CG 47 class AEGIS cruisers and improve the Fleet's air and missile defense capabilities against advancing threats, particularly ballistic missiles. Fry added that this is the first new shipbuilding program awarded to Alion that calls on the fully integrated capabilities of John J. McMullen Associates (JJMA) and assets of Anteon Corporation, which were both acquired by Alion in the past three years. Work will be performed primarily in the Washington, D.C. area and will be supported by business units throughout Alion. "Boat" of the Month Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, was awarded a contract to support the Navy in managing the design and acquisition of the Navy's next generation Guided Missile Cruiser, Robert Blake sent in photos of an OSVcrew and supply boat that measures 8 ft. x 32 in. x 16 in. Blake says all the lights work and he's in the process of putting twin engines in it to remote control the boat. Blake told us that its been a real "head-turner." 74 MN November 2008
