edition that will have my face affixed to this page, as I turn over the editorial reigns to Raina Clark, pictured right. It was exactly one year ago that we introduced to you the new and improved MarineNews; a bold new format with content geared towards your informational needs, based on an exhaustive readership study. But MarineNews, to me, has been and will remain much more than a pile of paper and ink with a circulation in excess of 33,000. I've been with MN since its birth, and have been here to help nurture its considerable growth. But as is the case in life, it is time to grow even stronger, even faster, which is exactly the course we will take with Raina in charge of the editorial side of the magazine. She is a former member of both the enlisted and officer ranks of the U.S. Coast Guard, who has served at the isolated duty unit, LORSTA St. Paul, the Coast Guard's LORAN (long range navigation) on St. Paul Island, AK, and served at the Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma, CA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies and a Master's in International Public Administration, and has five years experience writing about the maritime industries, including Alaskan fisheries and Great Lakes shipping, including many features in the pages of MarineNews. While my face is gone from this page, rest assured my influence will remain, as I look forward to working with Raina to continue building MarineNews' editorial reputation and loyal following.
