In spite of the worldwide economic recession, demand remains for tugs and other workboats in the Middle East. As the annual Middle East Workboats conference draws near, an estimated 2,000 workboats are to be docked or repaired in the region, and shallow water production has become the largest offshore market. Zamil Offshore's order book is full until 2012, and Dubai has begun work on a 10-boat ferry project. Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, worldwide workboat industry players will gather to demonstrate their products, learn about industry issues and network with one another.
